Meditation to Find Peace and Quiet
Sit comfortably in an upright position, gently close your eyes and focus on your breath. For a few moments, notice the ebb and flow of your breath without trying to change it. Now, notice the space between breaths. Sometimes it’s a very small space, other times, a little larger. Be with this space, just noticing the “peaceful quiet” before comfortably taking the next breath. Let go of the urge to lengthen this time by holding your breath. Be present to this little space. Let yourself settle into it. When thoughts drift in, let them drift out. When the 5 minutes are over, bring your focus back to the room and gently open your eyes, refreshed and perhaps a little more peaceful. If you have a bit more time, you can practice this meditation for up to 20 minutes. You’ll be amazed at the level of peace you’ll experience.
