Stressed out? Get some shut-eye. Not getting enough rest could make you more susceptible to the physical effects of stress.
Daily Dose

Older adults who don’t sleep well may be putting themselves at risk for health problems — especially in the face of stress. Research in the American Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry found that seniors who reported poor-quality sleep showed greater markers of inflammation during stressful situations. According to the study, not getting enough sleep may change how the immune system responds to stress, resulting in increased inflammation. This can put people at greater risk for mental and physical health problems, including heart disease, diabetes and depression. Poor sleep is not normal. If you don’t wake up feeling refreshed, talk to your doctor about it.
