The most humble of fitness gadgets may be the one that helps get you to your goal of 10,000 steps a day.
Daily Dose
Walking 10,000 steps a day is one key to living a healthy life. Each step boosts your mood, improves your sleep, reduces your risk of some forms of cancer and gets you closer to weight-loss goals (or helps you maintain a healthy weight) — among other benefits! While high-tech, plugged-in fitness trackers may be all the rage these days, and they certainly will help you keep track of every step you take, an inexpensive pedometer will also get the job done while helping you stay motivated. Wearing a pedometer will push you to take 16 percent more steps than you might have taken otherwise. Over the course of 12 weeks, that could add up to more than two pounds of weight loss. Simply wearing a pedometer makes you more aware of how much you’re sitting, and it will motivate you to get up out of that chair and take a walk!
